How I got started.......

HOW I GOT STARTED.........

I was admiring arrangements at a reception party for a friend. I decided to ask the hotel staff what actually happens to the flowers. Do they move them to the lobby for the enjoyment of the guests? I was told "oh no, we don't keep them." So an idea was born; why not ask to take the flowers back to my shop, redesign them & give them back to the community. Why not? Who wouldn't like fresh flowers especially in a nursing home dining room or a local school lobby. That's how "Vermont recycles Flowers "got started. With the generosity of flower donations and a little talent from Chappell's Florist designers and local volunteers, we are sharing flowers, still full of life, with members of our community who will really enjoy them. recycleflowers@yahoo.com

The Terraces Senior Living in Shelburne - Flowers to design

We are giving lots of "recycled" flowers to The Terraces this week. We are happy to do so, as the manager at the Terraces is volunteering her time once a month to deliver pretty recycled bouquets to local nursing homes and non profit organizations. The bouquets will grace their dining room tables at the Terraces. Thank you so much!

Today we are delivering the "joy of surprise flowers" to Kelly's Field in Hinesburg, an over 50 community, and the Adult Day Program at the VNA is picking up loose recycled flowers. These will be designed by the adults at the center today; they love the project and love taking them home in the evening. There is often extra flowers which we encourage the employees to enjoy!

Vermont Weddings

We are in the summer wedding season event, and we are gladly accepting gently used wedding flowers, bouquets, ceremony and reception flowers. Many Vermont weddings have guests from outside the local area and are unable to take flowers with them when the leave the celebration. The bride's family can bring the flowers to us for redesign or we will pick them up. The flowers will receive a second life and bring joy to many at our local nursing homes. These flowers can last up to a week because of their freshness. Thank you for considering our program!
