Today I would like to thank our local participants in our Vermont Recycles Flowers project because without them this wonderful program would not be possible. Paw Prints in Williston has very generously donated the inserts describing our program. Several local Hotels have added us their call list - before they discard flowers from parties and events, they call Chappells and we rush over to pick up bouquets to recycle back into the community. I also want to thank the volunteers who arrive at Chappells once a week to wash donated vases and design the prettiest little bouquets for all to enjoy.

In the continued effort to share our recycled flowers with non-profits in the local area, we delivered flowers to Ronald McDonald house, The Respite House, The Humane Society, Hope Lodge, American Cancer Society, The VET center, The Red Cross, and Hunger free Vermont.  We know they enjoy the gift as the delivery drivers came back to Chappells and tell us how much everyone appreciates the flowers, so surprised at the free gift.

This week our recylce flower program has been very busy delivering joy throughout the local area. We have focused on local churches in Burlington , Essex Junction, S. Burlington , and Williston. Our volunteer designers are creating larger bouquets so the church and fellowship can enjoy a flower design at the altar during services. I have received several notes of thanks and I love reading them . It's a joy to send out these flowers that would have been discarded.

At Thanksgiving, all of us @ chappells wish to celebrate by dressing the holiday table with joyful artistic flowers. Our recycle flowers program, with gracious assistance from our "flower fairies" will design and deliver tablescapes to local Nursing homes and assisted living residences. With generous flower donations we hope to extend the program to deliver to Fletcher Allen ICU waiting rooms, Ronald Mcdonald house, Vermont respite house, Lund family center, and Hope Lodge. Joan, our flower ambassador, asked at the front desk if anyone in the dining room was having a birthday today, and had not received any flowers to celebrate. "Yes we have a 100 year old Birthday girl today who never gets flowers or any visitors either." So Joan presented her with a pretty bright Birthday bouquet and got a huge smile in return. Joan then asked her secret to living 'til 100 years young, and she said to Joan, "Just be happy". We all loved that!

I have been asked the difference between flowers shipped in a box from a flower production warehouse and our custom designs. Even though Vermont recycles Flowers does send out cut flowers in boxes, I receive much nicer appreciation notes from the folks who get flowers designed in a vase. When I recieved a request from both Allenwood 90 Allen rd south Burlington vt. and  Pillsbury Manor South 20 Harborview rd south burlington Vermont 05403, I asked the flower volunteers to design some bouquets for pick up weekly. So Vermont Recycles Flowers is donating to both on a weekly basis. Flowers are delivered to those who are ill, and we hope they will get well soon. Flowers also go into the dinner rooms and the reception area. We want everyone to know that we are thinking of them and hope they enjoy the flowers.

We often design little vases so more flowers go to more residents.

We were given so many beautiful flowers by our donors again this week, that our Vermont Recycles Flowers volunteers designed 5 more bouquets for the Fletcher Allen Health Care Hospital, and Chappell's driver delivered the arrangements to the volunteer room. It is not a well known fact, but wonderful flower volunteers at FAHC deliver flowers and gift baskets every day to the patients for the local florists. Thank you Volunteers! The flowers donated to us this week include red and white roses, blue delphinium, green button pomps, hypericum, and freesias.....luscious!

We deliver gorgeous recycled flowers weekly to Vermont Respite House and once a month to Burlington Health and Rehab. We love doing it, and they send us the nicest "thank you" cards. We know we are making a difference by sending the joy of flowers.

For the love of Spring Flowers.....

Our recycled flower bouquets today go to our neighbors in Shelburne. I love receiving email photos of happy folks enjoying a meal with flower bouquets on the table. We love to send bouquets into The Arbors Memory Care and Senior Living 687 Harbor rd, Shelburne, The Lake Champlain Waldorf School 359 Turtle land, Shelburne, Shelburne Community School SCS 345 Harbor rd Shelburne, Wake Robin Senior Community Living and Life Care 200 Wake Robin drive, Shelburne vt., Shelburne Bay Senior Living 185 Pine Haven Shore Dr. Shelburne, vt. We also shared our recycled flowers with our friends at Corbin and Palmer 209 Falls Rd Shelburne vt. They are so generous in artfully displaying our flowers for the loved ones in celebration of life ceremonies. We think they should enjoy a bouquet on their desk or community room too!

Spreading the Joy.......

I receive "thank you " notes every day from Groups receiving these pretty flower bouquets. I so enjoy reading the nice comments! This month we will send out more flowers to elderly housing for Mother's Day. The Cathedral Square group has been very appreciative as we deliver multiple bouquets for their enjoyment. Out goal this week is to deliver fresh flowers to the Fletcher Allen ICU waiting rooms, Fanny Allen Rehab facility,  Ronald McDonald house and The Respite House.
